Chris Update Page

There’s lots going on in the club over the next few weeks:

This Wednesday it’s our St Georges Lunch. A late booking might be possible …have a word with Tony.

On Saturday there’s a quiz. There’s room for another couple of teams…so could you check your diary?

There’s to be another of our Themed Dinners, this time Moroccan, on Saturday 12 May.

And ~ Piece de Resistance ~ there’s to be another of Roger’s Wine Tastings on Thursday 17 May.

Details of all these events (and more!) are listed below. Be good to see you at some of them.

And now for those Diary Dates:

Tuesday 24 April ~ Banstead Bridge Club meeting in the Back Bar at 6.30pm. Any Bridge players interested in joining this group should have a word with Vic Collier as he’s the man in the know.

Wednesday 25 April ~ St Georges Day Lunch combined with a celebration of the birth of Shakespeare ~ who was born on 23 April 1564 and died exactly 52 years later!

There’s a list on the board for names….and, yes, it is open to the Ladies this year ~ so sign up Gels!

Friday 27 April ~ Club Draw Night. Always a very pleasant evening with pals for a Lager or a Lemonade, a Beer or a Beaujolais (or whatever), and one of the best times to get to meet other members. We tend to get together from about 8.15 onwards. Much of the funds raised during the year for extras at the club are gathered on Friday evenings via Ray’s raffles, bottle auctions and Ognib*….and lots of good humour attends too. The Draw this week is worth £140!

* Don’t know what Ognib is? Best way to find out is to come along……

Saturday 28 April ~ Quiz Night. Entry to the quiz is £3 per person (teams of 4) and supper, supplied by Chef Andy, will cost you £10-50p for two courses.

Menu ~ Chicken and Leek Pie with Creamed Mash, with Fruit Crumble and custard to follow.

Supper will start at 7.30 and, allowing a little time for digestion, the Quiz will commence at 8.15pm or thereabouts. The quizzes are good fun…..mind you, there’s many a groan to be heard when Trevor, our Quiz Master, reads the answers out……And of course, as there’s a maximum of 10 teams, everyone ends up close to the winners!

£13-50 for night out….can’t be bad! There’s a list on the board waiting for you to sign up.

Sunday 29 April ~ Club open from 12 noon until 4pm. This is a time when lots of folk drop in for a drink and a chat around the table……add your voice to the debate on current affairs, the weather, the latest expose in the newspapers….in fact, almost anything that catches the attention of those around the table.

Much laughter ensues, that’s for sure!
